Summer Tries Circular Breathing (MP4)
Summer's exceptionally large, stretchy cheeks make her an ideal candidate to make use of the technique of circular breathing. Circular breathing is used by various types of wind instrument players, glassblowers, and others to deliver a steady stream of air over a long period of time. Air from the lungs is used to inflate the cheeks as fully as possible, while also supplying the load. When the lungs approach depletion, the practitioner transitions to squeezing air from their cheek pouches using her face muscles, while simultaneously sniffing a quick breath of air to refill her lungs. The cycle continues for as long as needed.Summer begins by using a technique commonly practiced by didgeridoo players, in which she blows bubbles through a straw while switching back and forth between cheek and lung air. She then tries a balloon mounted on a short tube. Of course, this is just the beginning for her.
