Her enormous hand descends and closes. Several disappear into her palm. She sits without looking and feels one go under her. She notices a second later, lifts her hip slightly, and shrugs.

She sets a cluster on the glass table. Her fist comes down once, twice, three times. She counts under her breath. Six already.

She stands, her feet in titanic flip-flops. She walks balcony slowly, looking for the ones that tried to hide. A few on her chair. One near the balcony threshold. Each step is deliberate. The sole comes down and stays down while she shifts her weight. They are so easy to catch.

She sits again. She drops onto them without looking first, then looks, then stays, mocking them as her weight settles.

A car door slams outside.

She moves faster. The remaining ones are scooped up and flicked hard off the tall balcony where they fall to their doom, never to be found. One last sit. One last press of the flip-flop. One last sweep of their remains. Nothing left in sight.

He will never know.
