Elizabeth decided to tidy up her dresser and get rid of the lingerie and tights she had grown tired of. After sorting through and gathering up the bras, panties, and tights, she carried the armful over to the fireplace. She lit the fire, settled in comfortably, and—savoring the moment—tossed the garments into the flames one by one, watching them burn. Once everything else had been consumed, she took off her sandals and burned them as well; doing so gave her a special kind of pleasure. Finally, she stripped off the tights she was wearing and cast them into the fire too.
