MUTTLEY MEETS MISS ANNA
We have our little puppy, Muttley, before us for training: we want to test him and develop his obedience to our commands.
I am eager to have Muttley learn and demonstrate some new tricks, so I build Muttley's confidence by having him demonstrate the "roll over" he has already learnt. We then scrutinize his begging, complete with whimpering on command.
To develop Muttley, we demand that he shows the need to worship and adore his keepers. I have him prove the necessary level of affection by kissing our shoes.
Goddess Jessica observes that all of his puppy attributes are in play: a wet nose and constant tail shake are just so cute from our happy puppy.
Next, is our enthusiastic pup able to walk to heel as we demand? I leash Muttley and Goddess Jessica starts this training, we will both test out this skill. Once completed I have him sit patiently and hold his own leash, then walk free while his keepers discuss his progress.
I have Muttley prove that he is obedient by responding instantly to my recall returning to me with suitable speed. Our obedient boy is then required to drink water from his bowl, the expectant pooch is thirsty and laps the water up as a thirsty must.
This has been a good first lesson; a much more detailed training schedule can now be drawn up for Muttley, to include further obedience, tricks and then agility training.
We are both delighted and our puppy is dismissed, sent back to his kennel to rest!
