Begging For A Promotion
You enter Star''s office full of confidence. You have it all planned out, you''re going to walk out of her office with a promotion, or at least a raise. You start off by listing all the ways you contribute to the team, all the ways you make the company money.
Star gives you a patronizing half-smile, aw, did you read that in a magazine?. She rises and walks over to sit in front of you on her desk. Your eyes are drawn to her long legs in coffee colored control top pantyhose. Star explains that there are no openings. You counter by asking for a raise. She couldn''t possibly give you a raise, she''d have to give one to the whole team - a firm believer in reversing the effects of the glass ceiling, Star would never pay a male employee more than a female in the same position. Did you think you deserved more money because you''re a man?
You use your final tactic, explaining why you need more money. Star isn''t impressed by your sob story & tells you a story of her own, about a male boss who agreed to give her a raise if she would just . . .
Star explains how she quit, founded her own company, stole all his clients. Perhaps you would be a better fit somewhere else? If you really want a raise though, just a little bump, well - Star dangles her heels in your face and suggests that you could suck her foot.
