“Olhe para mim”, disse friamente e com presença dominante, cuspindo no rosto do escravo e lhe dando um leve tapa como lembrete de sua autoridade. Não havia crueldade gratuita, mas sim um jogo de poder que testava limites e lealdade.

Antes que a situação escalasse, a porta se abriu. Rebeca entrou, observando a cena com um leve sorriso.

“Começou sem mim?”, provocou.
