For Claudia, a good sole-licker is no amateur. He is a trained object who throws himself to the floor the moment a foot is lifted, opens his mouth unbidden, and swallows everything stuck to the underside of the shoe: nothing must remain. Everything must vanish down his throat.
Today she is wearing her neon-pink wedges. The grooved white rubber soles are already grey; the grooves trap everything. Before coming inside, she crushes her cigarette beneath her heel. The filter still warm, blackened with tar and ash sinks into a groove and gets stuck there. The slave is already lying on his back. Claudia does not look at him. She places her feet on his face and uses him as a footrest; her weight flattens his nose. Then she tilts her heel and presses the still-lodged filter directly against his eye. The smell of stale tobacco and hot rubber fills the air. She presses harder. Now he has no choice but to lick it all clean: the grooves, the tar, the filter. She waits. The only sound in the room is the tongue working against the grooved rubber.
