Mudstuck: Cranking, Sinking, Giving Up | Blaze Natalie
I was just heading out for a quick coffee with a friend. Nothing fancy—blue leather mini skirt, silky open blouse, Ivanka Trump heels, makeup, glasses, and the roof up on my Peugeot.
They mentioned the main road might still be flooded from recent rainfalls and suggested I try a different route. I figured, why not? It looked like a peaceful forest road, and I was enjoying the change of scenery.
The car gave me a tiny bit of trouble starting—just a little crank before it came to life—but I didn’t think much of it.
As I drove further in, I started to feel that familiar softness in the road. I should’ve turned back, but I didn’t. I pressed on, curious… and then I felt it: the front wheels started spinning. I was stuck.
I tried to stay calm, gave the engine a few short cranks to try and get myself out—but nothing helped. Panic started creeping in. I walked around the car in my heels, trying to figure it out without getting too muddy, but there was no way around it. I opened the hood, looked around, tried to come up with a plan.
Then I started to feel like someone might be watching me. That made everything feel ten times worse.
The tires kept spinning, the mud kept pulling me in, and my nerves started slipping. After a few more failed attempts, the car stalled, but this time, the car wouldn’t start. I just leaned back against it, defeated.
All I wanted was a coffee.
