Mudstuck: After the Rain | Blaze Natalie
I’m on my way to meet a friend after a long time without seeing each other, hoping to sit outside on a terrace on the first day without rain after a long, wet period. It has been raining for days, so I’m dressed in a rain-proof outfit — shiny red latex-look leggings, a black coat, pointy black patent-style boots, and even a shiny black top underneath, just in case the rain starts again. My outfit feels almost like rain gear.
I leave early and decide to stop by my countryside property on the way, driving my front-wheel-drive, stick-shift Peugeot 206cc. It’s the first dry day after many rainy ones, but the ground is still soaked. Feeling too confident, I drive further than I should, trying to go around the mud, and end up sinking the right side of my car into it.
At first, I stay calm and positive, trying to get the car out, but soon I realise it won’t work. I call my friend to cancel our meeting. As I continue to try harder and harder, frustration takes over. I get angry at myself, calling myself hopeless, and you can hear how desperate I become. I completely lose control of my emotions and thoughts while struggling with the situation.
