The Pedal Laboratory

Nyssa has tested the driving simulator's hardware, and now wants to actually simulate some driving. She chooses a small car with an automatic transmission, and a town streetscape with no traffic. What could possibly go wrong?

The Lab is building a new driving simulator, and Maia wants to check it out. Whomever was in it last was clearly taller than Maia, as her toes cannot get the accelerator or clutch all the way to the floor. She adjusts her seat forward, then tries all three pedals to ensure optimal control and comfort. She then reclines the seat a little, and for fun, checks to see just how far back it goes. Apart from a problem with the clutch not being seen by the computer, she is ready to simulate some driving.

She begins by working each of the pedals barefoot, then moves on to a pair of high-heeled pumps, a pair of high-heeled toe-loop sandals, a pair of low wedge-heeled thong sandals, and a pair of very simple flat sandals. Finally, she takes a "victory lap" with her favorite - bare feet - but of course, that's not really an option!

At least her bare feet might benefit from some nice sandals, and she has a few to try out in the course of the larger beach ball experiment. Of the three flat-heeled pairs - one strappy, one leather thong, and one jelly thong - which one will she prefer?

Yoko has been selected to test a variety of shoes on our new Volkswagen pedal simulator, with floor-mounted pedals including a roller-style accelerator. She's never driven a car like this, so she's certainly a bit apprehensive about operating such unusual pedals. She tries them out first with her bare feet, then experiments with some high heel pumps (Has anyone ever driven a dune buggy in those?), T-strap sandals with a low wedge heel, thong sandals with a similar heel, and finally, some flat thong sandals. Does she like any of them?
