Western Lessons for My Human Pony
Set in the grounds of a historic estate, this pony clip takes a more Western-inspired direction than most. Dressed in blue jeans, full leather chaps, a light beige shirt, Western boots with spurs, gloves, cap, and sunglasses, I ride my human pony freestyle and without a saddle, completely at ease and entirely in control. What follows is not rushed or theatrical, but confident, practiced handling; forward, backward, sideways work, sharp correction with the whip, and the quiet certainty of a rider who knows exactly how to use what carries her.
What makes the clip especially memorable is the variety within the training. I dismount to work the pony around me in a circle with a longer whip, send it through more demanding movements, then mount again and push it into a harder pace with reins, voice, tongue clicks, spurs, and the short whip. Later, I take the pony to a filthy pond and make it drink, press its head lower with my boot, then lead it through thick mud before settling down for a cigarette break in the sun while it cleans my leather boots. A strong pony clip built on Western styling, freestyle riding, lunging work, spurs, mud, boot service, and the pleasure of treating a human pony as both mount and discipline.
