Description

I’m out jogging when Emily calls.

“Scarlett, don’t be out there alone. Women have been going missing in that area.”

I laugh. Soft. Reassuring. “Don’t worry, Em. I’m fine. Nothing’s gonna happen.”

I hang up.

Keep running.

And then—

SNAP.

Hands. A yank. I’m spun around before I can scream.

A ziptie slams around my wrists — tight, cutting into my skin. Another around my ankles. I thrash — but he’s too strong.

Then the tape.

Rips from a roll.

Pressed hard over my mouth.

I try to scream. It stops in my throat.

Last — the blindfold.

Pulled tight.

Darkness.

I’m thrown — hard — into a car trunk. Cold metal against my back. The lid slams shut.

THUD.

I’m alone.

Bound.

Gagged.

Blind.

And terrified.

I twist — wrists straining, ankles pulling — but the zipties only bite deeper. I writhe, squirm, fight — every muscle burning — but I can’t break free.

I hear him walk around.

The car door opens.

Closes.

Then… the engine roars.

We start to move.

Bumping. Turning. Every jolt sends me sliding across the trunk floor. My hair tangles. My skin scrapes. My chest heaves — trapped breath, panicked moans muffled by the tape.
