The doctor carefully inserts her index finger fully into the patient’s anus, thoroughly palpates the rectum in all directions, moving the finger slightly in and out to achieve the best angles for the examination.
After completing the palpation, the doctor withdraws her finger from the patient’s anus and informs her that no abnormalities were found, except for mild constipation. She advises the patient to increase her fluid intake and recommends performing an enema at home if needed.
