The Growth Ring - Lalo Cortez
Lalo works as a salesman and gets assigned to pitch a new piece of experimental tech: a ring that looks completely normal on the surface, but is built to boost the user's energy and performance. But after giving in to curiosity and secretly testing out the prototype, the ring gets stuck tight on his finger and triggers sudden, uncontrollable growth spurts all over his body.
With no one at the office understanding what’s happening to his physical frame and height, Lalo spirals into a full-blown panic. The more anxious and desperate he gets watching himself grow right before his eyes, the more the ring responds to his racing heartbeat, driving an even bigger, more monstrous expansion. Overwhelmed by a rush of fear and an uncontrollable thrill from the sheer shock of the transformation, Lalo completely loses control of himself—his body just keeps growing as the chaos spirals out of hand.
Right at the peak of all this madness, the door cracked open. One of his coworkers walked in, totally unable to wrap his mind around the colossal figure taking up the room. From way up high, Lalo looked down and saw his tiny coworker, looking like a total ant next to his new size.
The mix of panic, adrenaline, and the ring's overwhelming energy completely twisted Lalo’s mindset. The contrast between his massive size and how small his coworker was sparked a dark, cruel urge inside him. Without hesitating, Lalo reached out his giant hand, thrusting his thick fingers down and grabbing the guy roughly by the chest and back.
He yanked him off the ground effortlessly, dangling him in the air like a cheap plastic toy. The coworker squirmed and begged to be let go, but Lalo, on a disturbing surge of physical power, squeezed him hard, letting him feel every bit of his crushing strength. Feeding on the guy's terror, Lalo pulled him right up to his giant face, flashing a cruel, intimidating grin, soaking in the brutal moment and the absolute power the ring was giving him.
