Piece by Piece - Lalo Cortez
Lalo welcomes his students, trapped inside a small box, to his favorite night of the year.
He brings the box up to his face to get a closer look. He can hear the screams coming from inside, savoring the fear his tiny students feel in such a dark, cramped space, without even knowing where they are. Lalo gives the box a few long, slow licks, building up the anticipation and preparing his terrified victims for what's coming.
He grabs his first victim by the legs and sets the others aside.
Lalo explains the situation while laughing his head off, his shrunken, transformed student squirming and thrashing around, dangling from his fingers like a little fish.
He probably thinks this is all just a nightmare or some kind of twisted Halloween prank, but there's still one more thing he needs to learn.
Lalo pulls out his phone to snap a picture of the tiny student dangling from his fingers…
"Say cheese!"
…And shows it to him.
He laughs at the student's sheer desperation as the nightmare suddenly escalates into something he simply can't wrap his head around. He's been turned into candy.
Lalo explains to him (and, by extension, to the others watching from inside the box) that one of his favorite tricks is luring his innocent, gullible students over to his house with the promise of tricks and treats. Except, as it turns out, they're the ones who end up becoming both.
They're all candy now. They can still move, see, scream, yell, talk, cry, and feel everything happening around them. They're also incredibly durable, which makes them perfect for something meant to be eaten alive: they'll remain fully conscious throughout the entire process, until they're finally digested and flushed down the toilet.
Only then will they finally be granted the sweet release of "unlife." But before that fatal ending comes, there's a long, fun experience waiting for them.
