July, a young woman known for her vibrant energy and carefree spirit, fell ill suddenly. She was confined to her bed, her body racked with chills and fever. As she lay there, weak and vulnerable, a strange figure appeared at her door. He was the plague doctor, dressed in a long black robe and a beak-like mask filled with herbs and spices to protect him from contagion. He had been summoned by the town elders who feared for July's health.

As soon as Julie sneezed, the doctor sprang into action. With a swiftness that belied his appearance, he tied her hands and feet to the bed, his movements firm but not unkind. There was a sense of purpose in his every action, and Julie's emotions were a whirlwind - fear, confusion, but also a strange relief.. She was terrified of the masked man and the bonds that held her, but she also felt a glimmer of hope that she might be healed. The plague doctor began to slap her buttocks, a method he believed would drive out the leprosy he believed was affecting her. The slaps were hard, but not cruel, and had a rhythmic quality. Her initial shock gave way to a strange acceptance, as she allowed him to do what he thought necessary. Throughout the experience, her emotions fluctuated between fear, confusion, and a sense of resignation. She wasn't sure what was happening, but knew she was in the hands of someone who believed they could help. And in her weak state, that was all that mattered.
