High Heels, No Excuses: A Sprain Won’t Stop Her!
Jeanette is the director’s beautiful, elegant secretary. She has just finished typing an important report, neatly gathered the documents, and is hurrying to deliver them to the director. She is dressed in a formal skirt, an elegant blouse, and high heels. She walks briskly down the corridor, clutching the folder to her chest. Just as she reaches the director's office door, she suddenly stumbles on one of her high heels and twists her ankle. She stops abruptly, grabs the wall for support, and lets out a soft groan of pain. An attempt to take another step makes her wince again; the pain in her leg is so intense that she cannot go on. Walking with difficulty, Jeanette makes her way back to her desk. She sits down, carefully extends her injured leg, and picks up the phone. After catching her breath, she calls the doctor and explains what happened. The doctor asks her to come in for an examination immediately. Upon arriving at the doctor's office, Jeanette struggles to sit on the exam table. The doctor examines her ankle, checks the site of the injury, and applies a firm support bandage. Jeanette listens closely to the instructions but keeps glancing at the clock; she is worried that the director is waiting for the report and that problems will arise at the office in her absence. Once the examination is over, she thanks the doctor and decides to return to work. Now, every step is a struggle. Leaning on a cane, Jeanette slowly makes her way toward the elevator, hoping to reach her floor quickly. But a new problem awaits: the elevator is out of order. Jeanette stops at the top of the stairs and looks down in dismay. She realizes there is no other way. Clutching the handrail tightly and leaning on her cane, she begins to descend cautiously on one leg. At first, she pauses briefly after each step, then stops to catch her breath. Her injured leg throbs with pain, and the journey seems endless. After some time, Jeanette finally returns to work. Walking slowly with difficulty and leaning heavily on her cane, she enters the office. Jeanette carefully makes her way to her desk, sinks into her chair, and exhales with relief. She is finally back. Now, all that remains is to hand the report to the director.
