Step-father Forgive Me
Step-sister Reese the Ram had never been particularly good at repentance.
She tried prayer. She tried confession. She even spent an entire afternoon kneeling in the chapel asking for forgiveness—but her thoughts remained anything but holy.
So Reese decided perhaps she needed a more *hands-on* approach to finding redemption.
Dressed in her habit, rosary wrapped around her fingers, she wandered through the neighborhood with one simple mission: knock on doors until temptation answered.
The first house was empty.
The second belonged to a sweet elderly woman.
But the third?
Two masked men answered together.
Reese looked from one to the other and smiled.
“Good day, gentlemen. I’m Step-sister Reese. I’m afraid I’ve been having some very inappropriate thoughts, and Step-father says I need to repent.”
One of the men raised an eyebrow. “And you came here?”
“I’m beginning to think divine intervention brought me to exactly the right door.”
They invited her inside.
Reese stepped across the threshold, letting the door close behind her. For once, she wasn’t interested in pretending to be innocent. She confessed every wicked thought she’d been carrying, enjoying the increasingly amused expressions on her two unlikely confessors.
By the end of the evening, Step-sister Reese emerged looking thoroughly disheveled, suspiciously pleased with herself, and considerably less burdened by guilt.
She straightened her habit, kissed her rosary, and glanced toward the heavens.
“Forgive me, Step-father,” she whispered with a wicked little grin. “I think I finally understand repentance.”
Then she turned around and knocked on the door again the next day.
