Samara: Diaper Changed for Bed
Samara is lying in bed browsing on her phone when her caregiver comes in. He reaches over, pulls the back of her pants down, and checks the diaper. It is soaking wet — the padding heavy and warm, the plastic shell darkened and sagging. He decides she is getting changed before bed.
He has her roll onto her back and shift into position on the mattress. A fresh diaper and wipes are already within reach. The wet one is untaped and peeled away, the used padding pulled out from under her. He cleans her thoroughly. A purple diaper is slid underneath, the thick padding centered under her hips. He takes a moment with lotion, rubbing it into the sensitive spots along her hips where the last tapes sat, then shakes powder over the entire diaper area — front, back, and between her legs — until everything is covered.
The purple diaper is pulled up snug. The tapes are fastened tight, checked, and smoothed so the plastic shell sits high and secure. He removes her shirt next and works a pajama top over her head, guiding her arms through the sleeves and settling the hem above the new diaper. He tells her to turn over so he can check the fit. She rolls onto her knees. He looks at the seat, the tapes, the way the thick purple padding sits under the pajama shirt, then has her turn back. Everything is in place. He tells her to go to bed.
