Angel Learns to Flood a Fiesta
ANGEL’S CRANKING TUTORIAL
Angel has heard that with the right technique, she can deliberately flood an older car and keep it from starting—without actually damaging it. Naturally, she wants to learn exactly how it’s done. Perhaps she has a little surprise planned for her man…
Dressed in a tight white vest, tiny denim shorts and nude heels, Angel settles behind the wheel of our temperamental 1993 Ford Fiesta for her first proper cranking tutorial. She listens carefully as she learns how to work the accelerator, flood the engine and manipulate the reluctant little Ford into cranking, coughing and spluttering without quite coming to life.
What begins as a lesson soon becomes a 15-minute cranking and flooding bonanza. Angel repeats the process over and over, almost as though she’s preparing for an important test. Each attempt becomes more confident as she perfects the delicate art of teasing the engine—bringing it tantalisingly close to starting before flooding it all over again.
Before long, Angel is clearly enjoying her new skill. The heels come off and her beautifully pedicured white toes take control of the accelerator, pumping and pressing as she works the stubborn Fiesta through one prolonged attempt after another.
Angel becomes so absorbed in perfecting her technique that she eventually cranks the battery completely flat. But after a short wait, there is one final part of the lesson: learning how to recover the situation. Now fully trained, Angel carefully clears the flooded engine and finally coaxes the exhausted old Fiesta back into life.
Angel arrived wanting to learn how to stop a car from starting. By the end, she has discovered a real talent for it—and perhaps rather more enjoyment than she expected.
