Safari Guy - Gage
Gage is an explorer for hire, looking for a rare plant. Sighting it, he heads across a mud plain and suddenly begins to sink. Not detered, he struggles to get free, using his hiking staff as leverage, sinking about hip deep before he pulls free of the thick mud. Moving forward, he tries to reach the plant, but ends up in a softer spot in the mud. Now he is really sinking and he left the staff behind. Determined to win, he struggles even harder, but only ends up sinking deeper. Nothing he does stops his movement downward. The submergence does not show his face going under, rather the safari hat sinks to the surface of the mud, followed by his hands going under - all in the same frame, so you can see he submerged. There is a brief after-the-submergence scene at the very end, showing Gage rising from the mud.
