VW Bus Cold Start Driving and Revving
In today's video, I'm trying to start my VW Bus after it has been sitting unused for what I believe is around two months. I get inside wearing my classic white and blue Havaianas flip flops, but as soon as I settle into the driver's seat, I take them off and continue barefoot. Most of the footage focuses on my feet and the pedals as I try to get the engine running.
Since the Bus has been sitting for so long, starting it isn't easy. My husband helps by checking things and trying to figure out what might be causing the problem while I keep trying. I also have a new pedal installed, designed in the shape of a foot with little toes! At certain moments, I even try to fit my toes between the pedal's little toes while pumping the accelerator and working the pedals.
After several minutes of trying, the engine finally starts. The starting sequence takes around six minutes in the edited video, although the actual process takes longer. Once the engine is running, I take the Bus out for a drive to give it a chance to warm up properly. I accelerate quite a bit, shift through different gears, and test the brakes as I drive around.
When I return home, I park the Bus in the garage and continue warming up the engine by revving it repeatedly while barefoot. I keep pressing the accelerator for a while, playing with this new pedal and watching how the engine responds and checking whether it is running smoothly. There are a few moments when it seems like the engine might struggle or stumble, but I manage to keep it running without letting it stall.
After spending some more time revving the engine and making sure everything seems to be working well, I turn off the Bus, put my Havaianas back on, and wrap up the video.
