Ignoring you pedicure
You don't exist right now. I'm busy.
I'm sprawled on my couch, legs up, bare feet right in front of the camera and I'm painting my toenails like you're not even there. No eye contact. No acknowledgment. Nothing. You get to watch my perfect feet from below while I focus entirely on making them pretty for someone who isn't you.
I unscrew the bottle, roll the brush, and paint each nail with slow, careful strokes, pinky to big toe, one foot, then the other. I wiggle my toes to check my work, blow softly to dry them, and reposition my feet without a single glance in your direction. You're invisible. Occasionally I flex my arches, spread my toes wide, or cross one foot over the other, giving you angles you definitely don't deserve. But I never look up. Never speak. Never even hint that I know you're there watching like a pathetic little foot creep.
The closest thing to attention you get? I frown slightly at a nail I'm not happy with, wipe it clean, and repaint it, still ignoring you, just correcting my own perfection. You're less important than a smudged toenail. I finish, hold my feet up to inspect them one final time, wiggle my toes with satisfaction, and set them back down, flexing my soles right toward the lens as I do. Still not a word. Not a glance, toes wiggling idly while they dry, and you just… stay there. Watching. Waiting for a crumb of attention that's never coming.
