Description

Patients may arrive in the emergency room in various conditions. Sometimes these are very serious. Mia arrives already in asystole. The paramedics found her in cardiac arrest and were unable to restart her heart, so they continued CPR until she reached the hospital. There, she was in asystole, and the efforts of the rescuers and doctors continued relentlessly. Her clothes were cut off as soon as her heart started to fibrillate, and the defibrillator paddles were placed on her chest, so the shock shook her body. The CPR continued, interrupted by the AMBU bagging. Mia seemed to be recovering, but soon her heart failed again. A Guedel tube was inserted, and the doctors continued their maneuvers. Another recovery, and another relapse. The endotracheal tube was inserted, and the efforts of the emergency room staff continued. More cycles of CPR, more shocks from the defibrillator, until the girl recovered.
